        In this post, I will tell you about Mata Vaishno Devi. Mata Vaishno Devi temple is the most famous temple in India. Thousand of devotee comes to this temple every year from all part of India as well as from abroad.

      The number of devotees increased during Nav Ratri Durga Utsav.

            Vaishno Devi temple counts one of the richest temples in India, has an annual income of over 5000 crores.

              It is also claimed the second most visited temple in India after Shri Venkateshwara Swamy temple Tirupati.

First and foremost thing Registration



Katra Vaishno Devi


               As you reached the Katra bus stand, you have obtained a registration ticket at the Yatri registration counter. This is compulsory due to crowd management. Nowadays online registration is also available. According to registration, you can proceed further journey.

Option is available

Vaishno Devi


                 The distance of the temple from the Katra bus stand is 13 Km. The full way is to climb trek on the hill. The temple is at a height of 5200 feet from the sea label.

             Children and old age people felt difficulty in this trek way in walking. Ride of pony and Palanki are available.

Helicopter facility

             Helicopter service also started from Katra to Sanchichat. Registration ticket, Id proof, journey ticket such as railway ticket, plane ticket required for availing helicopter facility.

               One more thing Id proof required all the members of the family. So please keep all document before the journey.

Gulshan Kumar Bhandara


          Left behind all official activity I moved towards my destination. First of all, I got Gulshan Kumar Bhandara. He was famous for his cheap tap recorder cassette and called cassette king.

           Very good quality food is available for devotees.

          It is said that no one can visit the holy shrine without a call from Maa Vaishno Devi. One who visits the holy shrine means he/she got the blessing of Mata. A slogan "Mata AAP Bulandi" may be heard from devotees.

      Ratnakar and his wife was a great devotee of Mata. A girl child born to their by blessing of Mata. The child having Tej of three goddesses i.e. Saraswati Mata, Laxmi Mata, and Kali Mata.

           Ratnakar named the child Vaishnavi. She grew up and set up an Aasram for Tap, Pooja and meditation. The glory of Ashram spread all around. People came to Ashram for a blessing.

         Sridhar was a devotee and follower of Vaishnavi. He organized a Bhandara. Guru Goraksh Nath and his follower Bhairon were invited to Bhandara.

      During the Bhandara, Bhairon suddenly tries to catch  Vaishnavi. Vaishnavi tried to understand and solved the confrontation with Bhairon. But she could not be succeeded.

       She runs away and stays at various places called Banganga, Charnpaduka, and Adkumari.

    At last, she reached the holy shrine. Bhairon chased and reached the shrine. Then Vaishnavi beheaded him. The head of Bhairon fell down at hilltop. Now Bhairon prayed to forgive him.

       Mata told that every devotee who visits my shrine, his visit would be completed after darshan (seen) of Bhairon place. The place where the head of Bhairon fell down called Bhairon Nath temple.

          Then Vaishnavi decided to shed off her human form and emerged in five and a half feet tall rock with three heads. These three heads called Pindies. The supreme power Mata Saraswati, Mata Laxmi, and Mata Kali.

Discovery of Holy Shrine

          Pandit Sridhar felt deep grief due to left Bhandara by Vaishnavi after a dispute. He gave up food and water and praying for Vaishnavi to again appeared.

           Mata Vaishnavi came in his dream and told him to search for her at Trikuta mountain. He found the holy shrine and entered the cave. He saw a rock with three heads. At the moment, Mata Saraswati, Mata Laxmi, and Mata Kali appeared in the cave They introduced three heads known as Pindies.

          Sridhar spends his whole life in service of Mata at the holy cave.

        "Jai Mata Di," told a visitor coming back.

        "Jai Mata Di" I replied. This is the way of salute to each other as well as chanting the glory of Mata.

          Now, finally, I reached Bhawan. Very beautiful positive atmosphere. Chirping of birds, jumping of monkey, all they were busy in their daily routine work. How I completed this 13 Km journey? Hopeful, mesmerizing mode, a strange experience of my life.

Bhairon Nath Temple

         The Vaishno Devi visit would be treated completed when the devotee visit to Bhairon Nath temple. The temple situated at a trek climb way. Pony and Palkies are available for children and old age people. Now rope-way cable car facility also available. You can see a very beautiful view of Katra city from here.

Aarti

         The Aarti of the goddess performed twice a day. First, just before sunrise and second in the evening immediately after sunset.

Poojan and Darshan(seen)

       Darshan in the holy cave is in the form of a natural rock called Pindies. These three Pindies represent the supreme power of Maha Saraswati, Maha Laxmi, and Maha Kali.

         As per the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board, there are two types of Pooja arranged and one can take part in these.

A      Poojan has performed by the name of the devotee who has been registered his name. Prasad sent through courier. Devotees need not be physically present. The charge of the Pooja is Rs.2100/-

B      Poojan has performed in the presence of the devotee. He can attend the Pooja along with his four family members. The charge of the Pooja is Rs.11000/-

Pre Paid SIM not Allowed

        Last but not least, that prepaid SIM not allowed here. So come with postpaid SIM in your mobile. Temporary Yatra/visit SIM also available, the same may be purchased on the production of the authentic documents.


How to reach Vaishno Devi

         Vaishno Devi temple situated at Tirkuta hill at Katra in Jammu and Kashmir state. Katra is 50 Km from Jammu. Mata Vaishno Devi Katra is the nearest railway station. The temple is near about 20Km from here.

         The nearest airport is Jammu Tawi which is 46 Km. Buses taxi available from here.

Where to Stay

         The Vaishno Devi Shrine board offers free as well as paid accommodation at Jammu, Katra and at the holy track. Hotel Bhavini, hotel Arya and New Parkash Gust house are at Katra bus stand, starting point of the journey.
