Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple Mandsaur

Pashupati Nath Mandsaur-Post 9

Pashupatinath temple Mandsaur

I reached Pashupatinath. No, no I am not talking about Pashupatinath Nepal. Whenever Pashupatinath comes it strikes as Pashupatinath Nepal, the famous temple of the world.

It is said that no one attends in the temple  till the Pashupati Nepal called him. My Arji (application) is pending.

          My train moved for Mandsaur.

Today, I am talking to another Pashupatinath temple that is in India. It is at  Mandsaur. It is situated at the bank of the Shivana river at Mandsaur.

Million people worship Lord Shiva. He also worshiped as Shivling. Lord Ram also established a Shivling at Rameshwaram before fighting with Ravana. The Shivling is counting one of the famous twelve Jyotirlinga.

My train is entering at Ratlam station. Vendors running here and there shouting tea...tea...tea...I also shouted tea..the other name of vendor., Tea is a must for change and tiredness. It will take about two hours to reach Mandsaur.

And now, I reached my destination.

The gold pitch Shikhar (top)of the temple looks from long distance.

How the Shivling found

It is said a washer-man named Udaji saw a dream that Lord Shiva told him that you are washing clothes on my idol. Udaji wakes up and went to the Shivana River. when he minutely checked, it was really a Shivling. He told the matter to the villagers. It was a very big Shivling. The Shivling established on 27 November 1961 in the temple near the Shivna river.

The Shivling was like the Shivling as Pashupsyi Nath Nepal. So the name kept Pashupatinath Mahadev temple. There is four-door in four directions in the temple,  but the entrance allowed in the west direction.

The Shivling was found in Shivna river. It is felt that the Shivling kept in the river to escape from the Mughal emperor who was against idol worship. They destroyed so many temples and idols.

The Astmukhi (eight faces) Shivling is unique. The four faces are upper side and rest four are at the lower side. The eight faces are accordingly eight Shiva tatva.

Sharva, Agra,  Ishan,  Asani Bhavam,  Rudra,  Pashupati and  Mahadev

The four faces of the upper side completely prepared while the faces of the lower side were under construction. All the faces have opened an eye and a third eye on the forehead. The Shivling is beautiful and auspicious.

The difference between Pashupatinath Mandsaur and Pashupati Nepal is that the Shivling of Nepal has four faces while Pashupatinath Mandsaur has eight faces.

Festival and function

A mela (fair) organized on the day of incarnation. Thousand of devotees attend the celebration.
