                We reached Omkareshwar. This is the last week of February. Winter is at old age and the weather is very pleasant. The twelve Jyotirling is very important in our Hindu mythology. Omkareshwar is second famous Jyotirling in Madhya Pradesh after Mahakal Ujjain

How to reach Omkareshwar


             Omkareshwer is another Jyotirling in MP after Mahakal at Ujjain. It is situated 78 km from Indore on the bank of Narmada.Omkreshwar is well connected to Indore by road. There are so many buses between Omkareshwer and Indore. Omkareshwar is 70 km from Khandwa .Khandwa is well connected by rail and is at Delhi Mumbai central railway line. So many hotels and Dharamshala available for staying. Gajanan Asram also a very good place for staying, all facilities are available here. The Jyotirling is at Omkar Parvat (hill) which is surrounded by ma Narmada. The shape of the hill is like Om, so the Jyotirling famous as Omkareshwar Jyotirling.

              We took a bath at Dudhghat and reached Mandir early in the morning. Darshan started at 5.30 which continues till 9.30 pm. Thereafter mandir closed after Shayne arti. There is a number of visitors and devotees. If you late you will face a long queue.

                 Parikrma of Omkar Parvat is an important ritual. The route of Parikrma is about 7 km.which is maintained properly. Along Prikarma path,  Gita slok shown on the board, are very good which teaches Gita message. During Prikarma, sangam of Narmada and kaveri is a very important point.

         Peoples take bath in holy Sangam. The hill looks like Om Aakar. Old mandir and maths come during Prikarma. Parikrma also performed by steamer.

                Mamleshwar temple is very oldest and situated opposite of Jyotirling along with the city area. It is said that Jyotirling yatra completed after darshan of both the templates.

            Mandav and Maheshwar also famous places that can also joined with Omkareshwer trip. Maheshwar is 66 km from Omkareshwer and Mandav is 39 km from Maheshwar. You may be returned at Indore directly from Mandav. Make your travel trip to Omkareshwar, come here, see the holiness and blessing of Omkareshwar Jyotirling.
